The Original Soup Man

So here is what happened.

The Original Soup Man opens up in the Devonshire Mall in Windsor, Ontario, & I just happen to LOVE SOUP, so I was quite excited & was really really hoping the soup would be great so I could go in there whenever I was in the mall since their food court sucks.

I didn’t get a chance the first time I was there because we had already eaten, but I made a special trip the second time around.

The place was well designed & the first time the staff seemed friendly & wanted to give me samples, but I just wasn’t hungry.

When I actually went in the second time to spend my money, no one asked me if I wanted a sample & I had forgotten they offered that plus there was no sign stating you could sample.

There was no other customers in the store & I assumed (now I doubt it) it was because it was about an hour before close, & I was having a really hard time figuring out what I wanted.

I hadn’t seen the prices before & I noticed that they were really really expensive.

None of the soups (my main reason for going in there in the first place) were ones I wanted.

They had like no selection.

They had the lobster one which is the priciest of all the soups, then the tomato one which I know is always too acidic, then some bean & ham one I think & I don’t eat pork, then 2 different chilies which are NOT soup, & so I was forced by the lack of selection to get the tomato.

I also ordered a sandwich, & my son ordered the lobster soup & 1/2 a sandwich.

The cashier guy had poor communication skills & at one point didn’t direct me properly, as he told me to go get a drink from over there. I didn’t know the drink was for my son’s item NOT mine, so I had to end up putting mine back. He was clueless, & never apologized.

The bananas were not ripe, but hey, it’s a free fruit, so we took one.

The only thing that really impressed me was the Lindt chocolate that came with the meal, but other than that, spending over $30 for 4 items is NOT what I call anywhere close to a good deal. Maybe had the food been fabulous I would have thought it was worth it, but it wasn’t.

My sandwich was mainly cheese (I couldn’t taste the chicken – I think that’s what I had), my soup I couldn’t finish because it was soooo acidic I didn’t like it, & my son didn’t like it either.

I tried my son’s lobster soup & it didn’t taste great to me.

Anyway, I wanted to tell The Soup Man my experience just in case it was unusual, but I got more surprises when I called up the number that was on my receipt asking for our opinion.

First, I couldn’t leave a message anywhere. There was NO customer service mailbox. Can you believe it????

A company that offers no customer service LOL, ok.

Then I tried to leave a message on the sales VM box & when I pressed the number, it told me there was a problem with the VM box.

I tried another VM box, same issue.

I FINALLY left a message in the accounting VM box & did anyone call me back?

No, of course not.

So after a few days of waiting, I decided to e-mail them.

LOL, I have to love companies that are innept.

Yes my e-mail was read, guess how many times….

Not ONE, yes, you read it, not ONE person out of those 3 e-mailed me back.

I hadn’t even told them what happened at the restaurant level, I was just very irked by their whole voice mail system, & what was initially me just wanting to contact the company re: the taste of their food, the prices & the lack of soup selection, turned into a complaint about their lack of customer service, & a voice mail system that doesn’t work.

Then they ignored me.

So, I’m surprised this company is still around after how they treat customers.
